Color Wheel Stencil
For this assignment we had to create a Color Wheel using different images that relate to a common theme. I chose a music theme and selected a music note as my stencil. Then I used the album art from some of my favorite albums released in 2010. The albums are, in order of color (ROYGBV), starting with red: The Age of Adz by Sufjan Stevens, Teen Dream by Beach House, High Violet by The National, The Suburbs by Arcade Fire, Treats by Sleigh Bells, and Contra by Vampire Weekend.

We were assigned a project in which we had to make an advertisement for any product. I was inspired by 1960s style advertising, a la AMC's Mad Men. I decided to advertise something that had been only recently invented but in the style of the 1960s.

Abstract Expressionism
This project was inspired by Marla Olmstead. We had to make an image related to abstract expressionism.
Chair
For this project we had to paste pieces of paintings on a chair. The hardest part was making the shadow, which I kind of failed at. The artist is Kandinsky.

Four Square
For this project I selected an image and mirrored and rotated it. Then I applied different filters for a cool effect.

Filtered Portraits
I really liked this picture of me and my friend Emily (you can check out her blog too, she's in my class). We had to make a grid design and apply different filters to each image. The center one is my favorite. |

I like photos that tell a story and convey a strong emotion. The images don't necessary need to be "pretty" or "happy." I admire the work of spot news photographers and of Ansel Adams. I like looking at Pulitzer Prize winning photos, even if they are of unpleasant or disturbing images. To me, photos should tell a story and make people think in a new way. Photos should illicit a strong reaction.
A powerful photograph can change the world and the way we think.

15 Green Things
For this assignment, I had to incorporate 15 unrelated images into a single image. This assignment was really difficult and I don't really like how my final image came out because it does not seem like a cohesive image.
